How your audio is handled
Where a recording goes from the moment you send it until it is erased.
Step by step
- Your app or script sends the audio to
api.getloquela.comover an encrypted connection. - On the way, it passes through Cloudflare, the network company that protects this site and many others. Cloudflare's policy is not to keep what passes through.
- Our computer holds the audio in memory only and turns it into text.
- The text is sent back to you. The audio and the text are then erased.
Technical detail
Cloudflare ends the HTTPS connection at its edge and forwards the request to our machine over an encrypted Cloudflare Tunnel.
What we never do
- Save your audio or transcripts. Everything happens in memory.
- Keep a copy. Nothing is stored, so there is nothing to train on.
- Send your audio to another AI company. Transcription runs on a computer we own.
- Write what you said into our logs. Logs only hold a request number, timings, the audio's length and whether it worked.
Good to know
- One computer. The service runs on one computer we own in North Carolina, so it is sometimes briefly down for maintenance.
- Links you share. If you ask us to transcribe a link (the MCP tool
transcribe_url), we download the file from where it is hosted, and that host sees the download. - Memory and disk. When a computer runs low on memory, Windows can move part of it to the disk for a moment, and that could include audio being transcribed. We keep audio in memory as briefly as we can, but cannot rule this out.
What we keep
To run your account we keep your email address, how you sign in, your Stripe customer ID, your API keys (only as fingerprints, never the keys themselves) and one line per request: the time, the audio's length, the minutes charged and whether it worked. This is kept in an encrypted database on our computer.
Files uploaded through an MCP upload link are held in memory for up to 15 minutes, until they are transcribed or the link expires, then erased.
Other companies we use
- Cloudflare carries the connection to our computer.
- Stripe handles payments. We never see your card number.
- Google or GitHub, only if you sign in with them.
- Google Workspace sends the sign-in code emails.
Only Cloudflare handles your audio, and only to carry it to us.
